Algebra and Writing -it is the same skill

You may not have notices but, students who can't organize paragraphs in fourth grade are the same kids who can't sort like terms in seventh grade algebra. Let me tell you why.

I have been teaching over 33 years. 15 years in general education and the last 18 in special education. I have worked with Kindergarten students learning sounds and adults in teacher credential programs. I love to teach. I can’t imagine doing anything else. If I won the lottery, I wouldn’t quit. I would put swings back in the school play grounds and parks.

I know being the teacher that helps the students who are struggling can be a lonely place. You don't have the time to always get to the lunch room. When you do teachers only want to talk about the "hard" kids and don't ever ask about your dog/kids.
